Ritz Vanity - “Creamsickle”
San Diego’s own Ritz Vanity continue their upward climb with the infectious new single “Creamsickle.” Originally formed in Patchogue, NY in 2020 before relocating to Southern California, the four-piece — Samuel Campanella (vocals/guitar), Salvador Benavidez (guitar/synth), Max Conahey (bass), and Reggie James (drums) — have quickly carved out a lane within the local DIY scene with a sound that pulls from post-punk, psych rock, alt-rock, indie, and surf-punk in equal measure.
“Creamsickle,” produced back in New York, is a high-energy standout that leans into the band’s knack for big, immediate hooks. Propulsive riffs and driving rhythms lock in behind Campanella’s effusive vocal delivery, with irresistibly catchy verses giving way to soaring, anthemic choruses that feel tailor-made for singalongs. It’s a tightly wound burst of garage-infused alt-rock that balances grit with melody, never losing its sense of momentum.
We were already huge fans of the band following last year’s release of their self-titled debut LP, but if “Creamsickle” is any indication, Ritz Vanity are only getting sharper — and louder — as they settle into their SoCal home base. Consider this another strong step forward from the rising local faves. Stay tuned as the band continues building toward what’s shaping up to be a big 2026, and give “Creamsickle” a spin below.
