SANDS - “Good Luck”

SANDS is a sunshiny garage-punk band - comprised of Brandon Browning (vocals/guitar), Basil Bielawski (bass), and Michael Hanley (drums) - and one of the best up-and-coming DIY bands rising through San Diego over the last few years. We caught them last year opening for Explosions in the Sky at SOMA and were blown away by their energy and telepathic musicianship on stage. Earlier this month, they unleashed a new single upon the world, a propulsive and nostalgia-tinged track called “Good Luck,” and it’s been in our musical rotation ever since.

With a bit of added synth flavor to this one, SANDS packs a bit more of sweetly sentimental charm. Whirring guitars, pulsating bass, and galvanizing percussive energy drive this one, with singer Browning crooning lyrics that should generate plenty of singalongs in live performances. It’s another hazy, cathartic track from one of the most reliable groups in the San Diego DIY sphere. Feel free to give it several spins below:
