Tigers in Cairo - “My Saving Face”
Rising San Diego punk band Tigers in Cairo are one of our favorite new-ish local acts. Having formed just last year, and now with a string of excellent singles under their belts, they’re keeping their creative hot streak alive with latest single “My Saving Face,” which they dropped a couple weeks ago. The track is another classic melodic hardcore ripper, blending raw Jawbreaker vibes with an anthemic Militarie Gun-type pop punk punch.
Crunchy, walloping guitars, speedy drums, and shouts of “HEY HEY!” punctuate “My Saving Face,” which also packs an absolutely soaring chorus that’s pure singalong-inducing. It’s a rapid-fire anthem balancing clean hooks and feedback-laced melodies - another triumph for the emerging quintet, comprised of singer David Martin, guitarists Gavin Rhodes and Paul Skur, bassist Dennis Smith, and drummer Matt Yansch.
Tigers in Cairo also have a couple live dates on the horizon: August 2 at Casbah and August 23 at Whistle Stop. Until then, feel free to dive into their budding discography with “My Saving Face” below:
