San Diego synthwave trio Twin Ritual continue their triumphant return with the dreamy, hypnotic new single “Just Like a Vampire.” Comprised of vocalist and lyricist Hanna Mahut, synth/bass/drum machine mastermind Anthony Ramirez, and guitarist Dave Trumfio, the band has spent years crafting an intoxicating blend of '80s-inspired synth-pop, goth, and new wave aesthetics. Following a multi-year hiatus, the group returned last year and have since unleashed a steady stream of material, including the moody anthem “Suffocate” back in August. They now further reassert their presence with a track that feels equal parts romantic, sinister, and cinematic.

Built around glassy, ethereal synthesizers, ominous basslines, and relentlessly pulsating drum machines, “Just Like a Vampire” conjures a lush, nocturnal atmosphere, anchored by Mahut's assured yet emotionally vulnerable vocal delivery. There's a distinctly seductive quality to the track, as its shimmering melodies and hypnotic rhythms mask a darker undercurrent of temptation, persuasion, and surrender. “Just like a vampire in the night/ Came with a sparkle in your eye/ Whisper things that make me feel alright/ Ask for my blood, I oblige,” Mahut croons in the chorus, evoking the irresistible allure of a dangerous attraction. The result is a hauntingly beautiful slice of darkwave that balances icy electronic textures with genuine emotional warmth, drawing listeners ever deeper into its spell.
