Madi Coe is a San Diego-based singer-songwriter and a member of many of our favorite local bands including Rain on Fridays, who are playing shows in support of their excellent latest album Death To Affection. In the meantime, she’s also been working on solo stuff under the moniker whirlwind02, and now she’s released her debut track “groundhog day,” a gorgeous folk-tinged ballad.

Here, Coe’s beautifully emotive voice unleashes confessional lyrics over plucky acoustic guitars and shakers - an elixir that sounds both catchy and haunted, and a natural evolution from her work in other bands like Rain on Fridays, winnebego, birthdayboy, etc. We’ll definitely be looking forward to whatever she puts out next.
