Jordan Krimston - Count It All Joy
Jordan Krimston is one of our favorite San Diego music scene personalities. As a singer-songwriter, producer, engineer, and live drummer for emo stalwarts Oso Oso, Krimston is one of those jack-of-all-trades musicians that any time he’s involved in a project, you can bet it’s worth listening to. Over the past couple of months, Krimston dropped a string of singles that has now culminated in the release of his third full-length solo album, Count It All Joy.
Lead track “Good Time” sets the tone nicely with its anthemic swell of indie - simmering verses and uplifting choruses over intricate guitars with electronic flourishes. The album also includes recent single “Boulder,” a vibrant slice of indie rock with tinges of emo and math rock in its guitar work. Krimston’s voice is as pure and emotive as ever, softly crooning over dueling arpeggiated guitar riffs and throbbing drums, with immaculate backing vocal harmonies helping the track waft its way into listeners’ subconscious. The rest of the album follows suit. “Castle Cloud” is a more uptempo, singalong-inducing anthem that perfectly blends analog and digital sounds. Final track “Line in the Middle” brings things to a cathartic end, wrapping up Krimston’s best LP to date. It’ll surely be in our constant rotation for the foreseeable future. Feel free to hop aboard the hype train below.
